Self-Assurance Process

Ensuring nationally consistent, high-quality training and assessment across VET system based on SRTO 2015 :

Adequate student support (academic & non-academic), monitoring & tracking of student progress, periodic internal audit for risk assessment and reporting and upgradation based on PD and industry consultation

  • Evaluation of RTO performance and student outcomes on an ongoing basis
  • Identification and fixing of issues and risks while maintaining a continuous improvement register
  • Embedding self-assurance regulatory model – attention to the relevant standards and clauses : marketing, enrolment, support and progression and training and assessment
  • Checking assessment tools have produced valid, reliable, sufficient, current and authentic evidence

Clauses 5.2 and 5.3 of the Standards for Registered Training Organizations (RTOs) 2015.

  • Clause 5.2: electronic pre-enrolment information copy : currency of the training product; training & assessment (duration, mode and support services); learner’s rights (complaints and appeals) (Std 6).
  • Clause 5.3: directing the learner to information prior to enrolment or the commencement of training and assessment: fees and refunds; and consumer rights.
  • Quality assurance – Feedback from students, staff & stakeholders; internal audits and compliance & industry experts’ consultation for updating continuous improvement policy and quality framework.

Planning & Monitoring Daily Operations and compliance

Strict Implementation – Clause 2.2 of SRTO 2015

  • Systematic monitoring of training and assessment strategies and practices to ensure ongoing compliance
  • Recording evaluation information – quality/performance indicator data collected, validation outcomes, client and trainer/assessor feedback, complaints and appeals.

Operational Efficiency

  • Customised training plans based on current skills, qualifications and needs of learners
  • Feedback on orientation and induction, student support staff and trainers’ performance
  • Consulted professionals (i.e. corporate, RTO owner and RTO consultants) to determine delivery structure, learning and assessment resource material, trainer/assessor skills and knowledge, simulated workplace documents, target cohort level, and elective units’ selection.
  • Obtaining updates from industry management body (Australian Inst of Management) and professional development.

Student Support and Progression

  • Staff Handbook – student support training to staff members, including administrative personnel, and teaching staff.
  • CI Audit and regular check-ins with students to monitor their progress and wellbeing.
  • Administrative support resources, mentorship, or referrals to external wellbeing support services (i.e., health, disability and cultural).
  • Student Feedback – surveys, focus groups, and one-on-one input sessions.
  • Complaints and Appeals policy – Standard 6 of the Standards for RTOs 2015.
  • Academic support strategies based on study plans – modifying the training or assessment methods to better suit the learning needs of students through small group tutorial assistance in terms of study skills and examination techniques.
