COURSE DESCRIPTION

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply advanced knowledge and skills in a range of strategic leadership and management roles.

Individuals at this level make high level autonomous decisions and use initiative and judgement to plan and implement a range of leadership and management functions in varied contexts. They have full responsibility and accountability for personal outputs and for the work or function of others.

They use cognitive and creative skills to review, critically analyse, consolidate and synthesise knowledge, in order to generate ideas and provide solutions to complex problems. They use communication skills to demonstrate their understanding of theoretical concepts and to transfer knowledge and ideas to others.

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Institute of Leadership and Management has the following entry requirements:

Students must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age and have completed Year 12 or equivalent.
  • Participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs.
  • Have language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skill sufficient to complete the course, for example, to read materials relevant to the course, participate in discussions and roleplays and apply numerical concepts such as time management. This will be tested through a LLN assessment as part of the course entry process.
  • Students will be required to have some skills and knowledge in computers, with a basic understanding of Microsoft word.
  • Participate in a suitability interview prior to enrolment and be able to demonstrate an enthusiasm and ability to undertake this qualification, with the recommendation being made by the interviewer to the CEO and/or nominee who will make the final decision And Entry to this qualification is limited to those who:
    • Have completed a Diploma or Advanced Diploma qualification in related fields of study and 3 years equivalent full-time relevant workplace experience at a significant level of leadership and management responsibility and/or complexity in an enterprise.

    or

    • Have completed a Bachelor degree in related fields of study and 2 years equivalent full-time relevant workplace experience at a significant level of leadership and management responsibility and/or complexity in an enterprise.

    or

    • Have five years equivalent full-time relevant workplace experience at a significant level of leadership and management responsibility and/or complexity in an enterprise.

     

    COURSE STRUCTURE

    Our course has been designed to meet the requirements for the BSB80320 – Graduate Diploma of Strategic Leadership. It contains 8 units of competency as follows:

    • 2 core units
    • 6 elective units

    Duration

     Our RTO will be offering the following delivery structure:

    Face to Face:

    (Total course duration 75 weeks consisting of 60 weeks tuition and 15 weeks holiday)

    There is an extra 5 hours per week programmed outside of 20 scheduled contact hours where you revise and practice to reinforce classroom learning. Some people will move more quickly through the material and others may take a bit more time depending on your confidence in the topics.

     Assessments

     Students are required to complete a range of tasks as part of the assessment requirements for each unit. Each unit assessment takes about 5 hours outside of class hours (assessment task own time). Assessment’s methods may include:

    • Assessment Task 1: Knowledge questions – Students must answer all questions correctly.
    • Assessment Task 2: Project – Students must work through a range of activities and complete a project portfolio.

    RPL, RCC, Credit transfer

    Recognition of prior learning (RPL), current competencies (RCC) and Credit transfer process is available to all students prior to the course at pre-enrolment and is discussed again at the induction.

    If a student has an Australian VET qualification and the units match exactly with the units delivered, the student will be granted a Direct Credit Transfer. Marketing and student services staff will manage this process following the policy and procedure. This sets out how the process is administered and the adjustment to course duration and course fees.

    Course Completion

    Upon successful completion of all the required units of this course, you will receive a nationally recognised qualification in BSB80320 – Graduate Diploma of Strategic Leadership. Students who do not complete all required units may be eligible for a Statement of Attainment in partial completion of a BSB80320 – Graduate Diploma of Strategic Leadership.

    PATHWAYS FROM THE QUALIFICATION

    Under mutual recognition, the Certificate qualification and Statement of Attainment awarded by IOLAM will be recognised by other RTOs Australia-wide. Pathways from BSB80320 Graduate Diploma of Strategic Leadership are on a case-by-case basis as this is already a postgraduate course.
